Review of Crisis On Jimmy's Farm
I want to hate Jimmy but I can't. I love what he wants to achieve. This series looks like it will be as good as the others

Jimmy's Farm is all about a guy actually doing what a lot of people say they would love to do (but never do). Here is someone with a PhD who decided he wanted to raise rare-breed pigs and make meat products from them.
I think they made a mistake in the original series by trying to make out that he was best mates with Jamie Oliver. It was unnecessary and made him look a bit tv-celeb-ish.
The reality is that he is an intense guy who believes passionately in what he is doing. The reason the TV series have always worked is that his ambition to succeed gets him into constant trouble!
I find the title of the current series funny as he has always appeared to be in crisis. The filming starts around the end of last year where they tried to do a big Christmas push which went disasterously wrong and they lost money rather than making a packet.
I think I missed the first episode but they story in the one tonight was that he wants to [a] raise a rare breed dairy herd and maybe get into cheese and [b] borrow £250k so he can build a tea-rooms in an old barn. So off he goes and buys 18 cows despite being in huge cash-flow difficulties.
These plans are all or nothing - if he fails they'll end up on the side of the road penniless.
I'll be watching each disasterous twist and turn with deep interest, all the while thinking "when I retire I'm gonna do that".
