Review of The Restaurant (UK TV Series)

This series lacks the energy of anything involving Ramsey, Oliver or Colicchio. I don't know if it is Raymond Blanc's fault; he is clearly an incredible chef but I don't know if he has the charisma required for TV.
The plot is silly but acceptable. Get a bunch of couples together, give each of them a building to run a restaurant in and then close one restaurant each week based on some criteria.
Of course they collected together a raggle-taggle group of fantasists, loons, media whores and psychos with just a few smart uns who are kept in the background.
Opening night for many of them was an utter disaster. The mother-son team was not only a bit disturbing but also useless. The pair running the Ghanian restaurant were pretty typical - one solid partner and one waster (in this case the husband). However the wife did serve undercooked chicken to the judge. Gach.
The whiney American with the clueless husband is particularly grating. So I guess they'll keep her to the end.
I have to admit that it is not grabbing me really but I'll give it another episode or two.
